Treating Chronic Back Pain with CBD Oil All You Need To Know!

With marijuana becoming legal in more states the big surprise has been how many people have decided not to use TCH containing products and found pain relief with CBD instead. CBD is a non-psychoactive ingredient that can be found in marijuana, hemp and other cannabis strains. CBD products which contain no THC are usually legal even where marijuana has still not been legalized, making CBD even more popular. Most often you will find CBD in oil, though there are a few other forms that are available. CBD oil for back pain has become more common and many patients are using CBD as their treatment instead of opioids and other prescription drugs.

There has been some research on CBD, but it is limited because there are so many restrictions on the growing of cannabis plants and constraints on research as well as limited funding for research because of federal laws. Early studies indicate that CBD likely inhibits some of the pain receptors, especially those receptors involved with nerve pain. CBD also is very effective as an anti-inflammatory which is often a factor in back pain.

There is some evidence that even suggests that CBD is helpful in repairing nerve damage and could even help regenerate nerves. Or course we are not talking about the miraculous kind of nerve regeneration that would reverse paralysis, but CBD might help with minor nerve damage and neuropathy.

How To Treat Chronic Back Pain with CBD Oil

Marijuana and hemp have been around for ages and have been used as a natural medicine since ancient times so there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that cannabis products work. Through anecdote, does not meet the standard needed to determine the effectiveness of CBD oil for back pain, it certainly supports the need for more research and indicates that if you have back pain and other treatments have failed or have side effects you cannot tolerate, then CBD is worth trying. Since CBD does not have negative side effects for most people, it is a safe treatment that even many doctors are starting to support.

The ban on hemp and marijuana products is mostly a modern development, but these restrictions happened to occur right when we have made the greatest medical advances to cure disease and stop the pain. It may be that our best treatment for back pain has been around for ages and we have just forgotten how truly effective CBD oil for back pain is. More research is coming especially since the FDA recently approved two synthetic CBD medications for the treatment of epilepsy.

Though CBD has actually been legal in many places for quite some time, it has only been with the legalization of Marijuana that mainstream medicine and physicians are starting to realize that the plant might be beneficial to patients. Much of this new acceptance from doctors has occurred because of patients who have tried CBD and other cannabis products have stopped or reduced the reliance on other medication. Much of the acceptance by doctors have actually been driven by patients.

About 80% of the population will experience back pain at some point in their lives. Back pain is the leading cause of disability in the world which means there is an extensive need for effective treatments for back pain. Opioid pain medication has been one of the more common treatments for back pain, but as opioid abuse has become more of a concern doctors are hesitant to prescribe these medications any longer. In many cases, physicians are reducing or completely taking patients off of opioids often without an effective alternative treatment leaving many people looking for something that will help them.

The effective dose of CBD oil for back pain is different for each person but is usually between 2.5 and 20mg. The best advice is to start low and increase the dose until you find the dose that is effective for you. Once you find your right dose you will want to take the CBD for 25 days to get the best effect. You can always take it for longer and since you cannot overdose and take CBD does not have the side effects you will find with other medications.

Along with finding the right dose, you will also want to make sure you are getting quality CBD oil. Unfortunately at this point the cannabis industry is still largely not regulated or under-regulated when it comes to potency and quality. In choosing a quality CBD oil for back pain you want to make sure that your CBD manufacturer gets their hemp plants from the US or Canada as these two countries have agricultural regulations that help protect against heavy metals and other toxins being in the soil where plants are grown.

Next, make sure your manufacturer uses an ethanol extraction method or supercritical CO2 extraction. Only a few manufacturers use supercritical CO2 extraction and though it is the best extraction method it is also the most expensive. You can usually find information about the manufactures extraction process as well as where they procure their hemp on their website.

In addition to extraction and origin, you want to make sure your manufacturer uses the whole plant. Most manufacturers put “whole-plant” or “full-spectrum” on the label when they use the whole plant. Whole-plant CBD will also contain terpenes, flavonoids and other cannabinoids which are thought to help make the CBD more effective. Finally, look to see if the potency and quality have been verified by an independent lab.

It takes a little homework to make sure you have a quality product, but it is worth the extra steps. If the cost of a CBD oil is too good to be true, you have probably found a low-quality CBD oil that does not have the maximum potency or effectiveness you are looking for.
